Second Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Poster

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Poster

Last week ended with the final posters for Iron Man. Now this week starts with another Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull poster. Pretty busy few days, poster-wise.

The first Crystal Skull poster was all about Indy, coming back after all those years, with only a few details related to the fourth movie. It was actually similar to the poster for The Temple of Doom.

The second poster, which was also created by the legendary Drew Struzan, is very different. Now we get to see much, much more, including a good look at the very alien looking Crystal Skull.

The design is not unusual for an Indiana Jones movie. In fact it’s very reminiscent of the poster for the Last Indiana Jones movie, but with a different cast and a different setting. Oh, yes, and a much older Ford.

But even tough it’s not an very original design, and even tough I think it’s not, by far, the best poster for the series, I still love it. Even more than the first poster, this just feels right. It feels like an Indiana Jones poster. And I just adore this series too much not to be taken by it.

I also think the comparison with the recently released Iron Man posters is interesting. Here too we have floating heads and tons of action going in the background. But this poster just looks so much better. This is in large part because they do a great job filling the poster with interesting imagery and because the illustrations are so much more appealing than the straight photos used by Iron Man. But it is also, I suspect, because there are many more interesting images to be taken from the film and used in the poster.

So, are you people excited already? May 22 can’t come fast enough.
